holiday cheer

yay for the holidays! n_n my Christmas to new years week has been mellow. I've been spending it at home just chilling with my parents. I suppose that is lame, but I've not gotten to be home for this long in several years at least. it's been nice. :) just wish I had enough time to really work on my doll projects.

I had wanted to sew a few things as well as msc and blush a few dolls, maybe even redo a faceup or two. due to a few unforeseen issues I don't think I'll end up with time for much though. hopefully I get one of the sewing projects done at least since it's a Christmas present for a friend. *crosses fingers* at the very least I've cleaned one doll!

anyways...hope anyone reading this is having a happy holiday season and ringing out 2009 in comfort and health while preparing for a great 2010!!!

so i've just spent the past week working on a new forum for the pacific northwest bjd collectors to use. it was something i was kind of thinking of doing before, but a conversation with a few others at the last trunk show on the 5th prompted me to start in on it for real the very next day. so now there's a new forum! it only went live yesterday and doesn't have overly much on it just yet, but it got 5 new members in a little over 24 hours! i just hope that we continue to grow...you can find it here: resin+ : a pacific northwest bjd collective

on another note...i'm currently a little worried about my fl order through dde...i was thinking about it tonight and realized that dde usually only lets you buy wigs and clothes that are in stock...no real pre-order on them...so now i'm worried that i messed up and that only the dolls are coming from fl and so i haven't qualified for all the event items. T_T i didn't get anything from them saying that i'm stupid and only getting certain items though...and they didn't say anything in their information on dde that i recall saying that you had to get everything as not in stock. i've thought about it though and i think that they had things on pre-order if they were in stock at fl and actually listed which they had in stock...i remember somewhat anal about making sure i didn't order anything in stock, so i think i'm okay. i hope... T_T

bittersweet and hate

so I just got some bad news that leaves me in a state of not knowing if I want to be bittersweet or just weep over the whole thing...turns out Lynsey will not really be able to do azerian. she's just too busy with work apparently. he's been away to her since the start of march and, with all that happened before that to just get to the point that he went off to her, well, it has now been nearly a year in the offing. if you add the time since knowing that I would be purchasing him and having her do his faceup, that right there is very nearly two years. at this point I just don't know what to do. I don't know if I want him sent home for me to find someone else to bring him to life or if I want to take up on her offer to still keep him and maybe be able to finish after the new year. from what she said, I don't think that she's all too keen on going that route.

I think I just want to cry and scream and hate the world right now.

however, that hate is not the one in the title. the one in the title is for the idiot girl who has been coming to the meets since this summer and has made herself very unwelcome. she's not a very bright or nice person to be around. constant fear of broken or stolen or otherwise damaged dolls abounds. just a very bad situation. anyways, she's been jerking everyone around whining about how she's going to have to move and now suddenly isn't moving. she's now posted confirmation that she will be at the meet tomorrow. great. just what I need, a good dose of retard to round out everything. T_T

...okay, not really...this is just more of a quickie update on things.

amber arrived on the 30th after a short detour over the weekend to visit miss ally in dc. she's so awesome for helping me with getting amber and for quickly shipping her over to me after the snafu! as for amber...(<3)

my eternal enemy...

usps is proving yet again that they are my eternal enemy. currently amber is somewhere in the us. no clue where. she shipped a few days ago from soom and, well, the tracking kinda stops there. the korean ems site shows that it has reached jfk. the usps site says that it is being processed by the office of outward exchange in korea. yeah. no clue. as for why she went to jfk, i don't know. i don't even know if that is really where she actually went. or even if she is still there. she's guaranteed for delivery by monday and, at this point, i think i'll be lucky to get her then. :(

haet just because I am currently on a metro that was nearly 20 minutes late. yeah, thanks metro for being so reliable. :/

anyway...I have been working out my fairyland order for the autumn event and it looks like I will be getting all of the event items!!! I'm still kinda surprised about it, but am rather happy. I will be getting both Ari heads on the a-line muscle boy body, Marcia, and Bonnie. I will also be ordering a number of wigs, shoes, and clothing. I'm very excited to place the order and then get it all! I probably won't get anything until around thanksgiving at the soonest. soooooooooo happy!!!!! :D

omg I forgot that the tunnel is open this late at night!!! so weird! I'm still used to it not being open on Sundays and closing early the rest of the week!

okay. up from the tunnel and waiting for the bus up the hill. hopefully this one isn't late...gods I don't want to work in the morning! T_T

ah well. I suppose I shouldn't complain too much about working as it means I have money for my fl order and for paying off bygg. also means I have some money for the first weekend of next month when friends come to visit! excited for that as it means hanging out and having fun!!! but then I still have to decide if I will be heading up to visit them at Halloween since I don't know yet if I would have the funds to spare or whatnot. *sigh* decisions, decisions!

if anyone is actually reading this, yes I <3 my iPhone so much! so happy for entertainment while I wait for the buses and such. this bus - thankfully - is only five minutes late. :)

anyway. today I hung out with a friend and had a fun time playing dolls and shopping. ended up getting some cute little gargoyles at target to use for photoshoots and the Halloween meet. I still need to get some stuff together and figure out how to dress everyone. I don't think I'll take more than two of the big dolls...probably just winter and maybe fierahn. maybe I'll take Chester as well...

well...crazy commute home is nearly done, so this is getting posted right now!

myth dark as night

my heliot arrived on the 11th! :D six months after ordering and now he's home. i've had plenty of time to worry about if i'll like him or not, if i made a mistake ordering him with a faceup on the r. head only or at all...in the end, it's all worth it.

right now he still has no name, his oe head is probably going to end up as another doll but i'm not sure yet, and i've not had time to work on him beyond wig and eyes...but he's still lovely! getting used to the soom jointing system is happening slowly as i realize that i've been a bit spoiled with the wonderful poseability of all my cp dolls. he's wonderful though! i'm completely in love with him. :) *pets heliot in her lap* hopefully i'll have more time to work on him in a few weeks...

slowly trucking along

so i've been remiss in catching up this past month or so...i've been very busy though. lessee...busy with work as usual (yay for soul eating drudgery!!...kinda...), been traveling about. uh...hmm...went and spent a weekend in bremerton with a friend doing dollie things. did faceups on all 3 flora plates as well as my juri and dreaming vamp moon. then spent a lot of time being just plain busy. then went to vancouver, bc, for the first time in something like 15 years the last weekend of may. yes! 15 years!!! it was even my first time out of state in nearly 6 years. T_T yes, i r lame. but then i got home, ended up with a very last minute cosplay for anime evolution!

i ended up as the 4th member of a group cosplay with my friends. :) it was my second anime convention and my first ever cosplay. i thought i'd end up being the lamest version of the character i did, but i actually ended up as the most complete (not entirely accurate...but hey, i managed to gather shit together in a week, make a jacket, and my friend found a chainsaw and wig!!) out of everyone doing the character. which character did i do? grell sutcliffe from kuroshitsuji! i'll have photos soon...as i said: still playing catch up. -_- also watched most of the anime, still need to take some time and finish that up. but i had tons of fun and hammed it up immensely with my friends. :)

ugh...anyway...i've had about 7 weeks straight of stuff every weekend - this past i had a doll meet - and am looking at the next 3 being full as well. i may just vegetate this weekend though...dunno...i really need to do a thorough cleaning as everyone will be coming down at the start of august and staying over during inno sera. *wonders how she will ever fit anyone else into the tiiiiiiny studio she calls home* okay...time to run off and work through pictures!!!

the void

so i read back over what i posted last night to try and see what was bugging me when i wrote about the void the dolls fill. now that i'm more awake, i think i can better describe this void.

i wasn't really into dolls as a child. my mom has mentioned this several times since i introduced her to the fact that i own dolls now as an adult and am a collector. i've never understood how people play with dolls. i mean, i guess i played with dolls as a child...but i don't really remember playing with them with other kids that much. i remember not being able to grasp how to interact via the dolls - mostly barbies of course - and create a story with other kids. things had to be more involved, i wanted the dolls to pose better and to be able to do more with them. frustration with non-bendable legs or barbie's famous won't-stay-bent-enough legs is something i remember a lot of. also the fact that most dolls were poorly made or you couldn't get clothing for. i still have all of my dolls. even the barbies with the early neck pieces that allowed them to look any direction but tended to break the necks. nearly all of them were gifts from family and have sentimental value to the point that i can't bring myself to part with them. store bought toys were always a result of holidays or birthdays. always something of great circumstance. these were moments you planned for weeks in advance - unlike most of my friends who's parents would simply buy them what they wanted most times.

year one

i really should have put this up a few months ago, but i've been busy and majorly slacking. i've got tons of photos to get processed and up. *sigh* hopefully soon!!!

anyway. february 21st was the one year anniversary of winter's arrival (along with azerian's head) here. i must say, looking back it still surprises me how into this hobby i am. :) one year in and i've already gotten one of each size and obtained two of my dream dolls. i've been having such a great time and have even gained new friends within the hobby. these dolls really do fill a void that i'd been searching to fill for years. repeated tries with barbies and their ilk did not yield the results i wanted and now...now i am so happy!

ugh...anyway...gonna ramble all night if i'm not careful. ;) on to the pictures from the anniversary!!!

how i spent my first sakura-con...

ate next to nothing each day, saw ebichu and amvs for the first time in AGES, made new friends, saw old ones, played with a sard, got glomped at random, got invited to other cons, barely slept, met artists that i love, bought art, took many many pictures (though not enough), and bought a sword...can i sleep now?

it's been a while...

so it's been a while since i last put anything here. i've been kinda busy and then lazy when i'm not. hmm...let's see...i need to put up a year one photo as february 21 marked one year since winter and azerian arrived. at the moment, azerian is off to england for a faceup, i've finally got eyes for him, and his body shipped out just after midnight my time from fairyland. i'm very VERY excited to see him coming together. :) along with his body will be arriving a dreaming vamp moon head and a 2008 juri head. neither has a name and i'm pretty sure the juri will be the companion to my heliot. also, chester's body will be home soon as well as it shipped out to bunnie in the last week as well.

an observance or two...

today has been a horrible day. the culmination of a stressed out weekend.

it's really wonderful when people don't know how to do things that they should have learned how to do in high school at the least. things that i learned in elementary school. things that aren't really all that hard to understand. things that i shouldn't get a response of "it's the same thing" when it really isn't.

reemergance of the gloomkitty

so, this past week hasn't been all that great. for anyone really what with the economy, congress still not agreeing on a stimulus package, and everything else happening in the world. in my small corner of it, things are looking pretty grim after this past week. my work has finally been hit directly by the economic downturn, so they let some people go. thankfully i'm not one of those people, but it's all the more disturbing when i had a dream two nights before where i was at work (some people and things the same, some different...you know how dreams are) and a person who was apparently a manager walked up and told two people to get out. they then proceeded to talk to my remaining department and told us about what had happened and that we hadn't heard any of it from them as it was on the downlow. *sigh* yeah...real wonderful dream followed by real life events. thankfully the company is self-sustaining at this point and, sadly since we're in the turn-around and growing stage, we can't grow thanks to things going that are impairing the company that currently owns us from providing the funding we need. bad enough that we work with banks in various ways...now we don't know what the future will hold. the comfort in this is that i'm fairly certain that i'm okay at this point *knock on wood* as i've got a large portfolio of skills from my years at the company and my department is somewhat specialized. really, there's only four of us and no one else really knows how to do what we do. anyone coming into the work we do would have a huuuuuge amount to learn and would take months to get up to speed (this is based off of what has happened each time we've had a new hire).

*sigh* okay...enough bellyaching about work.

my littlefee ante arrived last tuesday after a weekend in customs/usps limbo. i got the macaron fullset version and it's even more beautiful in person than in the pictures! as for ante herself...wow!!! love the littlefee posing! she's my first yo-sized tiny and i have to say, fairyland really outdid themselves! :)

i've been soomed!!!

yup...i fell into the heliot trap...so now i've pushed around a few doll order plans for this month and put my order in on friday. *le sigh* i've no clue who he'll be or anything. so far i think i want his nickname to be eli...short for what, i don't know yet. elias, elian, elliott, eolian, elijah, eliam...i keep coming up with more and more...but no clue where he's going character-wise. oh, i'm getting him with a faceup on his romantic head (the one with the horn).

now i just need to order from fairyland next weekend so i can get the juri event head and azerian's body. mostly i just need to get az's body 'cause i now have a spot with lynsey to get him a faceup!!!! :D sooooo freakin' happy about that one. i was in her recent lotto and didn't get pulled...but she ended up opening 10 first come, first served spots a few days later and i got the last one! yeah, my new years day was full of joy. ^_^ so now he needs a body and i think i need to get ready for a dollmore order so the boys have clothes...

also found out yesterday that the planet spirit deneb from last year really was the first monthly zodiac doll (at least, the soom store japan has her posed with the rest of the monthly zodiac dolls...). so now i don't know if they will do another one this year or not which is a little disappointing since i didn't know about her until after (that i recall) so didn't get her and, well, was planning on getting the aquarius doll...maybe they'll do opposite genders this year? *hopes*

so i finished off chester's eye mods wednesday night and did a faceup for him...the little grump already flew face first into my keyboard and botched it, but i'm gonna be redoing it anyway, so no big deal. i think i need a little bit browner chalk pastel instead of the redder one...makes him look kinda sunburned... >_<
