the ever pressing wig question...

so the question that always seems to be asked every page or so in the minifee discussion on doa is "what size wig should i use?" or, well, some variation thereon. i've answered several times recently and, just now, answered yet again with the following:

"it's up to you what size you end up going with. typically mnf are listed as 7-8 wig size, but some people like to size down to a 6-7. some things to keep in mind though: not ever company uses a wig cap that will stretch far; fur and mohair wigs do not stretch; leeke is not 6-7, but 6-6.5 and so will run small in that size no matter what; and sizing can run different even within a company (ie: one wig in 7-8 could be bigger than another in the same size - sometimes even same style depending on construction)."

i'm getting sick of people not even seeming to try and look for answers lately, but i almost think most of it is due to the seemingly authoritative answers that are given. a few people agree that it is really up to each individual what size wig they use and tend to answer that when they do, but then there are the others. these people seem to be "experts" and are sadly consistent at giving poor advice that is heavily biased. sorry, just because someone is well known doesn't mean that what they say is correct or the be-all-end-all. try things out and make your own decision about if something works for you or not.
